bf and i used to go to the movies pretty frequently, but as of late haven't had the opp. so every other time we go is usually my selection and well, my list is a little backed up.

we just watched beowulf over the weekend (NOT my selection) which i have to say was pretty cool in imax 3D. and that's it. i'd rather leave the memory of this title in my high school experience.

anyhoo, so my list.

movies i want to watch!

lars and the real girl
no country for old men
american gangster
i am legend
across the universe
the darjeeling limited note: extremely good character development which i can always come to expect from wes anderson
lust, caution
michael clayton
gone baby gone Note: i thought this was quite good actually despite the fact i totally felt like shit afterward.
wristcutters, a love story
enchanted(ya ya laugh all you want)
superbad (yes, i'm like the .01% of the population that hasn't seen it yet)
august rush (mostly for my fascination with felicitykeri russel
waitress (see reason above)
eve and the firehorse (been sittin on my shelf for months now. totally forgot that i bought this dvd).

****EDIT****
addendum:
the golden compass
juno
into the wild
there will be blood
penelope
jumper Note: this movie was TERRIBLE
spiderwick chronicles
the diving bell and the butterfly
once
persopolis Note: love! need to buy for personal collection
stardust
iron man Note: i was pleasantly surprised at how much I enjoyed this movie
sex and the city
be kind rewind
the edge of heaven
indiana jones
band of outsiders
grave of the fireflys

Current Music: riders on the storm - the doors

yes i am feeling quite guilty for basically abandoning my mother tongue.
i can somewhat get by with what little i do know, but i definitely need to study up some more.

rosetta stone for tagalog levels 1 and 2 is crazy expensive (339 buckarooos).

yes i want to reclaim my language but dont know if i can drop that much cash!

is there an equally intensive yet more financially friendly version (preferably free, hehehe) out there that anyone can recommend?

uh so im chillen at home just now surfing the internet when i hear and feel this rumble and suddenly my lamp is swaying back and forth and my picture frames start falling down. stupid me, clearly its an earthquake (a freakin strong one at that!) and instead of implementing the standard "get under my desk asap" protocol that they've taught us for years since grade school and even now force us to do in earthquake drills at work, i do exactly what i'm NOT supposed to do. i run outside.

sheesh.

5.6 magnitude centered around san jose.

yes, i am officially freaked out and now looking into buying earthquake insurance.

i think the even scarier thing about is this is not the first one i felt this year. and after checking out the earthquake map, it looks like little ones happen pretty frequently multiple times a day.

i still remember that big one in 89. even then, i ran outside when i felt it happen. silly girl.

gotta love livin in california.

"My Dearest Friends and Fans,

It is my greatest honor to present to you The Inevitable Rise and Liberation of NiggyTardust!,
my new album produced by Trent Reznor and mixed by Alan Moulder. The wall of sound that we've created is tagged with such graffiti that a passerby would seek out doors and ways to ENTER. Once inside a world defined by dreams come true they'd find aligned with the simplest act of sharing what we treasure. Most people aren't aware of the world of art and commerce where exploitation strips each artist down to nigger. Each label, like apartheid, multiplies us by our divide and whips us 'til we conform to lesser figures. What falls between the cracks is a pile of records stacked to the heights of talents hidden from the sun. Yet the energy they put into popularizing smut makes a star of a shiny polished gun. The ballot or the bullet for Mohawk or the mullet is a choice between new times and dying days. And the only way to choose is to jump ship from old truths and trust dolphins as we swim through changing ways. The ways of middlemen proves to be just a passing trend. We need no priests to talk to God. No phone to call her. And when you click the link below, i think it fair that you should know that your purchase will make middlemen much poorer...

NiggyTardust!

love,

Saul"

did i mention, you pay what you want?
yes yes! inspired by radiohead's DIY release of their latest album In Rainbows (which, by the way, is also a MUST cop).
$5 gets you the option of downloading the album in varying levels of quality. or pay nothing and get it @ 192Kbps MP3 format.

this is a bit long, but pretty amazing.

"There is an excellent dance, called the Thousand-Hand Guanyin. Considering the tight coordination required, their accomplishment is nothing short of amazing, even if they were not all deaf. Yes, you read correctly. All 21 of the dancers are complete deaf-mutes. Relying only on signals from trainers at the four corners of the stage, these extraordinary dancers deliver a visual spectacle that is at once intricate and stirring. Its first major international debut was in Athens at the closing ceremonies for the 2004 Paralympics.

It had long been in the repertoire of the China Disabled People's Performing Art Troupe and had traveled to more than 40 countries.

Its lead dancer is 29-year-old Tai Lihua, who has a BA from The Hubei Fine Arts Institute. The video was recorded in Beijing during the Spring Festival celebrations this year."
